“The work that I create is simply a reflection of my personality, my fascinations and my bewildering passion for the natural world. I have always been haunted by this interest in the mystic realm, theologies which challenge science and old, almost untouchable ancient religions. I yearn to stand out as being different, slightly unusual, and to challenge the viewers own perception of reality and fact.
A lot of my work is influenced by Norse and Celtic Mythology, Arthurian legend and tales from many literary figures including Shakespeare, Tolkien and Edgar Allen Poe. In all my works I aim to create a sense of mysticism, wonder and the surreal through mysterious subject matter, bold use of colour, accents and contrasts which put a strong focus on the darkness and the light.
My current work is largely focused upon the spiritual connection between the individual and nature. For thousands of years, the landscapes around us have been seen as wondrous, sacred places and I am particularly interested in investigating our relationship with these places within my artwork.”
‘I can linger, with solemn steps, under the deep shades, send forward a transforming eye into the distant obscurity, and listen with thrilling delight to the mystic murmuring of the woods.’
